It's good afternoon, Dr. Angela. Too welcome to Yellow Shelf.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Joe. Thanks for having me. It's absolutely wonderful to be here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, thank you. I know we've been trying to make this happen. Um, and you and I connected last year, so it's wonderful. I'm really grateful you said yes and I could support your show. Congratulations. You're, I guess you're nearly 10 episodes in to the podcasting journey. Your podcasting show is called Finding Spirit. Tell us all about it.
SPEAKER_01Yes, so thanks so much, Joe. Finding Spirit is really about how do we connect to our intuition and how do we align our life so that it really feels like we're on track and on purpose. So, um, how I do it is I interview psychic mediums, energy healers, and astrologers to really uncover what is it about their world, you know, their psychic gifts and their access to energy that we can apply practically in our lives, in our decision making, in our relationships, in career advice. Um, because I've always been deeply interested in this area.
SPEAKER_00And Angela, you know, one of the it's really for sorry, keep going.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, no. So if you're ever curious, you know, like you there are a lot of skeptics who, you know, question me like why this particular topic, um, particularly given my background as a GP for over 15 years and now stepping into this space. Um, but I've always had an interest in the metaphysical. I've, you know, I've always wondered how do psychic mediums see into the spirit world, what can that teach us for ourselves, and how can we trust our gut instincts more? And and how does that help us make different choices?
SPEAKER_00Angela, what I love is your episodes offer the audience a way of thinking the reality that there's more to life than just logic.
SPEAKER_01That's right, that's right. And because you know, we've uh we've unpacked tarot reading with um John uh tarot by John, who's an Irish astrologer, and a lot of people shared with me that they didn't know that tarot could be a useful tool. Um, and he has the the most beautiful Irish accent as well, so that's a really fun one, and he does a reading for listeners as well. Um, but there's also um Dennis, who's a Turkish coffee cup reader, so he actually drinks the coffee and he can see shapes and images within the coffee ground. So things like that that maybe people haven't been exposed to. And I'm like the listener, I'm a curious um person on the journey of understanding this other world and how it can apply to us. Um, but the common takeaway that they all have shared with me is that we are all born psychic, we all have this ability to be intuitive. Um, it's just like going to the gym and working a muscle. We just haven't developed it in the same way that they have. So it's available to all of us if we're curious and you know we we try it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and look, Yellow Chef audience is definitely curious. Personally, I'm just gonna say the coffee episode is one of my favorite as a coffee drinker. Incredibly fascinating. People need to listen to that episode. Uh, Angela, tell us a bit about the journey to become a podcaster. Uh, we were talking off camera, you know, both of us had careers. You mentioned you're a GP and then you're transitioning into the world of uh behind the microphone. Do you want to share a bit about yourself? Anything we need to know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so a lot of people, when I told my patients I was stepping away from um, you know, seeing them clinically, they were like, You're becoming a radiologist. And I said, No, I'm actually training in radio, um, broadcasting, and they didn't really understand that. So, COVID, I think, I think happened to a lot of people in terms of burnout and just feeling questioning what the next direction was. So I went and studied um podcasting and radio through the Australian Film Television Radio Schools afters, and from that um had the experience of winning an award for a podcast that we created as students, and that gave me a lot of confidence that I could create good storylines, and the topic of finding spirit just kept circling around. But I have to admit, I was afraid to be the face of this sort of podcast. Yeah, it took me a while to really um feel I could put myself out there because I, you know, I have a YouTube channel as well, so I can't just hide behind the podcast. Um but I kept coming back to this topic, and I think we are a lot of people do feel disconnected to themselves, and through um list podcasts and hearing different ways we can access our intuition. I think it helps you come back home to yourself and help you help helps give you answers in a different way.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and Angela, you mentioned your YouTube channel. I follow you on YouTube as well. You know, you even just to listen to your episodes, you have an incredibly warm, caring, um, nurturing voice through the episodes. So um no wonder you won an award. Thanks, Joe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's very sweet. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And Angela, what's what's ahead? I mean, there's I feel like there's so many interesting topics that you could go to here. Where are you getting your guests? I'm so curious about particularly the coffee guy. I was like, wow, where did he come from? How what's what's that Junior?
SPEAKER_01So it's everyone that I interview, I have actually had a reading or an experience with them beforehand. So I've tested everyone in terms of do I resonate with them, you know, can I connect with them and do they have a good story to share? So you can be confident that they are genuine people, and that's what I really want. Um, the authenticity is there, but also that they know their craft. So um, so I have had like the uh Dennis, who the coffee uh Turkish reader, I met him 10 years ago, no, longer than that, when I was pregnant, uh, wanting to fall pregnant with my second child, and he reassured me that I would fall pregnant, and I remembered him. So when it came to doing a podcast, I reached back out to him. So I have these these guests have been slowly uh gathered along my journey in life. Um, next year I'm looking, I mean, not next season, I'm looking to interview a hypnotherapist who does a lot of um deep NLP repattering, um, who's been incredibly helpful in my life. Um, but also a lady who does um kahuna massage and the spirituality side of that. I haven't yet explored crystal healing, past life regression. There's so many other topics I'm interested in, and also the combination of art and spirituality, because I'm on that journey myself. So lots more to come. Um, but also I have um created a digital online store as well, the stand uh store that people can access, yeah, for sleep meditations, and also I'll be creating intuitive rituals that people can be guided through to help awaken their third eye more as well. So putting all my hypnotherapy and NLP training into good use with the meditation. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh Angela, and you know, you're you're living, you're living your guests, you know. Like I think that's really powerful as a host. You're um you're going on the journey and then sharing it with your audience. Angela, you mentioned this the store, the online store. I'm gonna put links in the show notes. Uh, you've got YouTube, you've got all the platforms. I'll put some links in. But do you want to point us in the direction? Do you like people to also follow you on Instagram?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um, Instagram's probably my main platform, so at Finding Spirit Podcast. Um, similarly, YouTube, you get the sort of visual sort of um conversations, but also Apple and Spotify, where every um all the good podcasts are. But yeah, I'm happy to connect. I'm always looking for new guests that people have had I really love recommendates where you've had a really good experience and you think, hey, can we highlight this sort of modality? Like I'm interested in that sort of um approach as well. So yeah, um very excited to see where season two will take us.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Angela, good luck with season two. I know you don't need luck because you're you're very natural at this and your guests are really super interesting. Uh I just encourage everyone to get curious about what, you know, what's a relatively uh you I mean, you started the podcast, you're nearly 10 episodes in. Um, so much great content there. All the best, Angela. Thanks for joining us.
SPEAKER_01Thank you so much for having me, Joe. It's been a pleasure.
SPEAKER_00It's been fun. Cheers.
